Adult & Couples Therapy

Curect Neuropsychology of New York.
  • Why therapy?

Some people begin therapy to address a specific situation while others may have a life-long struggle that they would like to address. Therapy can be utilized to treat a specific problem or it can be a means of self-discovery, growth and improved well-being. Various treatment options include engaging in individual therapy or utilizing couples therapy to address certain relationship problems in a supportive environment. Additional reasons that people may seek therapy include:

    • Stress and Anxiety
    • Sadness/Depression
    • Grief/Loss
    • Difficulties with Past/Current Relationships
    • Parenting/Co-Parenting
    • Self-Discovery
    • Self-Esteem
    • Addiction
    • Trauma
    • Work Problems
    • Anger Management
    • Life Transitions

  • What are the benefits of therapy?

Therapy has been shown by researchers to be beneficial in hundreds of well-designed research studies. Results have listed numerous positive outcomes, some of which include:

    • Healthier and happier relationships
    • Increased confidence and self-esteem
    • Greater self-acceptance and self-forgiveness
    • Improved expression and management of emotions
    • Increased ability to communicate effectively
    • Decreased defensiveness and anger
    • Increased coping skills
    • Increased ability to draw boundaries with others
    • Improved job performance

  • How long will therapy last?

The length of therapy varies based on each person/couple’s needs. Sometimes therapy will be brief (just a few sessions) and sometimes therapy lasts longer (a number of sessions will be provided over a period of time). If length of treatment is a concern to you, we can discuss this at your initial session and create a plan that works for you. The length of each session is 45 minutes for individual psychotherapy. We understand that couples may have a more difficult time coordinating schedules and may desire longer therapy sessions less frequently. Therefore, we recommend extended sessions lasting 60-80 minutes to provide both clients ample time to discuss their concerns.
